Antigen Immunomodualtion

Many researches have been investigating the underlying mechanisms that are implicated in several skin diseases e.g. lichen planus, warts and moluscum contagiousum. One of the important mechanisms proposed is the imbalance between Th1 and Th2 immune response. Several lines of therapeutic modalities have succeeded in eradication of these diseases with a cure rate up to 70%. The new therapeutic modalitis include BCG vaccine, candida antigen and MMR vaccine. Additionally, predictors of the success of immunotherapy like genotyping of HPV; the causative agent of warts, and different cytokine panel levels are now available.
